Leggett to Announce Latest Phase of Campaign to Reduce Pedestrian Collisions in Parking Lots

Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett will describe the latest phase of the County’s ongoing education campaign to improve pedestrian safety and reduce pedestrian collisions in parking lots.  About one in four pedestrian collisions occur in parking lots in Montgomery County.  In 2015, one in ten of those collisions resulted in incapacitating or disabling injuries.

 

Joining Leggett will be Montgomery County Councilmembers Sidney Katz and Hans Riemer and Police Lieutenant Nicholas Augustine.

 

Note to Editors: On this day, County staff will be distributing pedestrian safety materials to shoppers in Bethesda, Silver Spring and Wheaton. In Wheaton, distribution will begin right after the press conference.
