Leggett and Other Officials to Celebrate Walk To School Day at Ronald McNair Elementary School

 Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett and Montgomery County Public Schools Superintendent Jack Smith will celebrate Walk to School Day at Ronald McNair Elementary School.

Joining Leggett and Smith will be Montgomery County Council President Roger Berliner, Councilmember Craig Rice, Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) Traffic Division Sergeant Jim Whelan, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) personnel, Principal Sherry Moses and other officials, along with Ronald McNair Elementary School students, patrols, staff and parents.

Sponsors of this year’s Walk to School event at Ronald McNair Elementary School include Safe Kids Montgomery County, Federal Express, Montgomery County Department of Transportation, MCFRS, MCPD and Ronald McNair Elementary School.

Note to Editors: The event also will feature public safety equipment such as a fire engine and safety characters: Sparky the firedog and the crosswalk Zebra.

Schedule:

9 a.m. Corner of Steeple and Hopkins – Officials, Sparky and Zebra accompany children at the crosswalk.

9:15 a.m. Officials greet students in front of the school.

9:25 a.m. Leggett and Smith thank children for walking safely, during morning announcements.
