Montgomery County Executive Elrich to Announce His Plan to ‘Reimagine Public Safety’ During News Briefing at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 25

Thursday, June 25, at 11 a.m.

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will present his vision and plans to “Reimagine Public Safety” during a news briefing at 11 a.m. on  Thursday, June 25.  Also participating will be Montgomery County Police Chief Marcus Jones, President of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) for Montgomery County Torrie Cooke and the County's Health and Human Services Director Dr. Raymond Crowel. The briefing will take place via Zoom.

Last week, County Executive Elrich, Chief Jones, and County FOP President Cooke announced a change in the Duty to Intervene. According to the new policy, officers now must intervene if they witness another officer using unnecessary force.
