Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management Shows How to Create COVID Preparedness Kits

For Immediate Release: Thursday, September 17, 2020

Friday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m.

As part of National Preparedness Month, the outreach coordinator for Montgomery County's Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (OEMHS) will walk reporters through how the public can assemble recommended items for preparing a COVID Kit and a 14-day Quarantine Kit.

National Preparedness Month is designed to promote family and community-wide disaster planning. As we continue to grapple with this pandemic, emergency managers and public health officials across the country are advising Americans to prepare for a possible second surge in positive COVID-19 cases.

County OEMHS Community Outreach Coordinator Joe Corona will host this media event outside Montgomery County Public Safety Headquarters at 100 Edison Park Drive in Gaithersburg. He'll explain what belongs in a COVID kit as well as how families can prepare for the possibility of one or more family members needing to quarantine for up to two weeks due to the virus.

Members of the media are required to wear masks and maintain proper physical distance. This event will be recorded and available to the public via the OEMHS and County government social media platforms late Friday afternoon.
