Montgomery County Executive Elrich and Council President Hucker Will Join County Department of Transportation’s Launch of ‘20 is Plenty’ Speed Reduction Pilot Program on Thursday, June 17, in North Bethesda

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and County Council President Tom Hucker will join the County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 17, in launching the Vision Zero speed reduction program, “20 is Plenty,” in North Bethesda. The program will lower speed limits to 20 miles per hour on targeted streets to promote safer roadways for pedestrians and bicyclists.


The Maryland General Assembly, during the 2021 session, passed House Bill 562 sponsored by the Montgomery County House Delegation. The bill authorized Montgomery County, and its municipalities, to decrease the maximum speed limit to not less than 15 miles per hour on local roadways, but only after performing an engineering and traffic investigation.

WHERE:         Parking lot on the corner of Nicholson Lane and Woodglen Drive in North Bethesda. Event is adjacent to the Woodglen bike facility and bikeshare station.
