Westfield Montgomery Mall, MCPS to be Announced as Newest Partners in Montgomery’s Unique Commercial Food Scraps Recycling Partnership Program on Thursday, Nov. 18

Westfield Montgomery Mall and Montgomery County Public Schools will be joining the growing list of partners in the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Commercial Food Scraps Recycling Partnership Program. Montgomery County is the first jurisdiction in the State of Maryland and the metropolitan Washington region providing this type of program for the commercial sector.


Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will be among those welcoming the significant additions to the program during an event at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18. The event will be held in the parking lot outside of Mall Entrance No. 6 (near Macy’s and the Food Court) at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda.


Through the initiative, businesses and organizations are provided technical assistance, education, training, materials, 35-gallon food scraps collection containers, compostable bags, food scraps recycling collection services and processing at a compost facility to assist them with recycling food scraps.
