For Immediate Release: Tuesday, March 1, 2022
Marian Fryer Town Plaza, 2424 Reedie Drive, Wheaton
During the month of March, as Montgomery County marks two years of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, the County is highlighting the sacrifices, dedication and efforts of individuals and partners in the community as we continue to move forward. Each week will feature a different theme, the first being Memorial Week (Feb. 28 - March 5).
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, Montgomery County Councilmembers and faith leaders will hold a candlelight vigil tonight, Thursday, March 3, at 7 p.m. at the Marian Fryer Town Plaza, located at 2424 Reedie Drive in Wheaton, to honor those lost. The event will feature remarks from the County Executive, members of the County Council as well as faith leaders, followed by the candle lighting ceremony.
As the fight against the virus continues, the County will take time to remember those who have died from COVID-19 and recognize the many residents and organizations who helped save lives over the last two years. Throughout this week County residents can also share their stories online using the hashtag #MoCoRemembers. For more information about the month-long event, click here.
If you are unable to attend the vigil in person you will be able to watch it at home on County Cable Montgomery, Montgomery Municipal Channel, Montgomery Community Media, Montgomery College Television, Rockville 11, and Takoma Park City TV. Viewing details available here.
Parking: Attendees can park in the public parking garage located under 2425 Reedie Drive. (The garage entrance is on Grandview Ave.)
