County Executive Marc Elrich to Sign Bill Ending Duplicate Taxation for Essential Services for Residents of Cities and Towns in the County

For Immediate Release: Friday, March 11, 2022

Monday, March 14, 12:30 p.m.

Executive Office Building 101 Monroe Street, Lobby Level Auditorium, Rockville

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will be joined by Montgomery County Councilmembers Nancy Navarro, Sidney Katz and Andrew Friedson as well as Monique Ashton, president of the Montgomery County Chapter of the Maryland Municipal League, along with other municipal leaders, for the signing of Bill 2-22-Montgomery County Municipal Revenue Program - Amendments.

This bill will relieve County residents who live in incorporated cities and towns from paying duplicate taxes for services. This bill signing is the result of almost 20 years of work and negotiations. Once signed into law, the bill will double the County’s reimbursement for municipally delivered services from $10.1 million for FY22 to $20.5 million. The bill requires an 80 percent phase in for FY23, a 90 percent phase-in for FY24, and a complete phase in for FY25.
