County Executive Marc Elrich to Sign Important Building Energy Performance Standards Legislation Into Law

On Monday, May 2 at noon, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will sign the Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS) legislation (Bill 16-21) that the County Council unanimously passed. The new law will expand the County’s benchmarking requirements and establish building energy performance standards for existing buildings – a foundational program necessary to curb emissions from the built environment, reduce building owner operating costs, and help meet the County’s climate goals.
