Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich to Join County Councilmembers in Unveiling New Shopping Center Anchor in Burtonsville on Thursday, June 30

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, June 29, 2022

Thursday June 30, 2022

An economic development announcement is planned for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday June 30, to reveal a new storefront in the Burtonsville Crossing shopping center, which sits at the intersection of Routes 198 and 29 in the eastern part of Montgomery County.

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will join Montgomery County Council President Gabe Albornoz and Councilmember Tom Hucker. Maryland District 14 State Sen. Craig Zucker, Del. Eric Luedtke and Del. Anne Kaiser will be there for the name unveiling as well. David Germakian, managing director for EDENS Development, will share details about the new business that will be coming to the center.

The event will be held within the parking lot of Burtonsville Crossing just in front of the sign. If it rains, the event will move under the awning.

The multi-million-dollar project will come as welcome news to a community that has seen the shopping center sit mostly vacant and without a main storefront for the last decade.

“The community has been pushing for something to be done with the property for a long time so Thursday’s announcement will be good news for the neighborhood and for the region as a whole,” said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. “We believe it’s the start of good things to come for East County and Burtonsville.”
