Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will be joined at noon on Thursday, Nov. 10, by U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen; County Council President Gabe Albornoz; University System of Maryland Chancellor Jay Perman; University of Maryland, College Park President Darryll Pines; University of Maryland, Baltimore President Bruce Jarrell; University of Maryland Medical System President Mohan Suntha; local, State and Federal officials; and businesses leaders for the historic signing of a memorandum of understanding to create an Institute for Health Computing at North Bethesda.
The event will take place at noon on Thursday, Nov. 10, at the roof terrace of the Federal Realty Building at Pike and Rose in North Bethesda, which is located at 909 Rose Ave.
This first of its kind institute in the County will include research in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning and Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR). The agreement will create an academic research facility in the heart of the County’s bio-life science corridor. It will serve as an anchor to the County’s growing bio-tech industry, fueling more development around the North Bethesda Metro Station (formerly known as the White Flint Metro Station).
