70,000 MAIL-IN BALLOTS STILL TO BE RETURNED; THREE EASY WAYS TO RETURN THEM

For Immediate Release: Saturday, November 2, 2024

As of Friday, November 1, 2024, Montgomery County voters have voted and returned more than 114,000 mail-in ballots for the 2024 Presidential General Election. However, more than 70,000 voters have not returned their mail-in ballots yet.

Montgomery County Board of Elections President David Naimon says: “Don’t delay – vote today! There are three easy ways to return a voted mail-in ballot: (1) by depositing it in one of 58 official election drop boxes located throughout the county, (2) by returning it in the U.S. Mail, or (3) by taking it to any of 232 polling places between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5, 2024.  There’s also a harder way: if a voter who requested a mail-in ballot chooses to vote in-person on Election Day, the voter will have to vote a provisional ballot that requires completing additional paperwork, possibly waiting in an additional line, and spending more time at the polling place.  Consider choosing one of the easy ways!” Provisional ballots will be counted after Election Day, Tuesday, November 5, 2024, and only after elections officials confirm that the voter is eligible and has not already voted.

Voters may submit their completed mail-in ballots at any official drop box until General Election Day, Tuesday, November 5th, at 8 p.m. Mail-in ballots returned by U.S. Mail must be postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service by Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Post offices generally close by 5 p.m. To identify the nearest drop box, or post office locator, text BOX plus a zip code (example: BOX 20879) to 77788, visit www.777vote.org, or contact the Montgomery County Board of Elections at 240-777-8500. Ballot drop box information is also available in the Official Sample Ballot and Voters Guide that was mailed to registered voters in October.

If you didn’t request a mail-in ballot and didn’t vote during Early Voting, vote in-person on Election Day at your local polling place!  To view your full, personalized sample ballot, including your assigned polling place or a list of all polling places, text CHECK to 77788 or visit www.777vote.org
