For Immediate Release: Monday, May 19, 2025
On Monday, May 19, 2025, the Montgomery Board of Elections considered the changes of the polling place locations for the 2026 Gubernatorial Primary and General Elections. The list of proposed relocations of polling places is available at the Board of Elections website www.777vote.org, and the Board will vote to approve the proposal at its next meeting on June 16, 2025.
“To avoid voter confusion, we try our best not to move Election Day polling places without a good reason,” President David Naimon said. “That might be when school construction makes a location unavailable or when completion of such construction allows us to return to a location. Under state law, we’re required to give priority to public buildings over private ones and to locations within a precinct over those in adjacent precincts. I’m glad that we’ve been able to keep these moves to a minimum for 2026.”
“It’s important for Election Day voters to know where the local polling place is located,” Secretary Amie Hoeber said. “Unlike for early voting, when every eligible voter can vote at any early voting center in the county, if you vote somewhere other than the Election Day polling place in your home precinct, you must cast a provisional ballot. A provisional ballot requires more time for you to vote and for us to research, process, and eventually vote on whether to accept your ballot. You can avoid that hassle by voting in the correct Election Day polling place.”
