MONTGOMERY COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS RECOMMENDS EARLY VOTING CENTERS FOR THE 2026 GUBERNATORIAL ELECTIONS

For Immediate Release: Monday, June 16, 2025

On Monday, June 16, 2025, the Montgomery Board of Elections voted unanimously to recommend the following 14 Early Voting centers to the Maryland State Board of Elections for the 2026 Gubernatorial Primary and General Elections:

  • Activity Center at Bohrer Park, Gaithersburg
  • Bauer Drive Community Recreation Center, Rockville
  • Nancy H. Dacek Community Recreation Center, North Potomac
  • Damascus Community Recreation Center, Damascus
  • Isiah ‘Ike’ Leggett Executive Office Building, Rockville
  • Germantown Community Recreation Center, Germantown
  • Jane. E. Lawton Community Recreation Center, Chevy Chase
  • Mid-County Community Recreation Center, Silver Spring
  • Potomac Community Recreation Center, Potomac
  • Marylin J. Praisner Community Recreation Center, Burtonsville
  • Sandy Spring Volunteer Fire Department Station 4, Sandy Spring
  • Silver Spring Civic Building, Silver Spring
  • Wheaton Community Recreation Center, Wheaton
  • White Oak Community Recreation Center, Silver Spring

The Board is recommending the same 14 early voting locations for the 2026 elections that were used in the 2022 and 2024 elections. This would allow voters to go back to familiar voting locations. Maryland law requires Montgomery County to have 13 locations and allows one more by mutual agreement of the Board of Elections, the County Executive, and the County Council. “We thank the County Executive and the County Council for supporting our request for 14 early voting centers for the 2022 and 2024 elections and ask that they do so again for the 2026 elections,” Board of Elections President David A. Naimon said. “We are happy to offer all those eligible to vote a choice among voting by mail-in ballot, voting at any of the county’s 14 early voting centers, or voting at your home precinct’s assigned polling place on Election Day.”

“It’s important for voters who would like to vote in-person to remember the differences between Early Voting and Election Day voting,” Secretary Amie Hoeber said. "Unlike for early voting, when every eligible voter can vote at any early voting center in the county, if you vote somewhere other than the Election Day polling place in your home precinct, you must cast a provisional ballot. A provisional ballot requires more time for you to vote and for us to research, process, and eventually vote on whether to accept your ballot. You can avoid that hassle by voting in the correct Election Day polling place."

Once the County Executive and the County Council agrees to our recommendation for 14 early voting centers for the 2026 elections and the State Board of Elections approves the sites for Montgomery County, they will be advertised on the Board’s website.
