CANDIDATE FILING DEADLINE APPROACHES

The Montgomery County Board of Elections wishes to remind anyone who is planning to run for office that the deadline to file as a candidate for the 2026 Primary Election is 9PM, Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

Individuals interested in running for the following Montgomery County offices – County Executive, County Council, State’s Attorney, Clerk of the Circuit Court, Register of Wills, Sheriff, the Montgomery County Board of Education (Districts 1, 3, 5, and At-Large), Republican Central Committee, or Democratic Central Committee - may file a Certificate of Candidacy with the Montgomery County Board of Elections at 18753 N. Frederick Avenue, Suite 210, in Gaithersburg.  

Walk-ins are accepted, but to expedite the process, we strongly encourage interested candidates to make an appointment. Appointments may be scheduled by calling the Montgomery County Board of Elections Candidate Filing at 240-777-8610 or by email at [email protected].
