For Immediate Release: Monday, April 13, 2026
The Montgomery County Board of Elections invites registered voters to serve as election judges during Early Voting, June 11-18, 2026, and on Primary Election Day, June 23, 2026. Individuals of all party affiliations are encouraged to apply, with a particular need for registered Republicans throughout the county.
Given the county's linguistic diversity and in accordance with Title 15.5 of the Maryland Election Law Article, voters who are proficient in languages such as Amharic, Chinese, French, Korean, Vietnamese, and others are needed. Additionally, to comply with Section 203 of the 1975 Voting Rights Act, each polling place must have voters fluent in both English and Spanish to ensure a bilingual Spanish speaker is available.
Students aged 16 or older can register and serve as election workers and may earn up to 25 Student Service Learning (SSL) hours per full day of service instead of a stipend. All workers must be registered Maryland voters, fluent in English, and cannot hold or run for public office or manage campaigns.
All election judges are required to complete training, which will be provided. Training consists of an online quiz and in-person classroom instruction. Volunteers will receive compensation for completing both training and their duties during Early Voting or Election Day. Multiple positions are available, including full-day and partial-day opportunities, as detailed at www.777vote.org. Individuals who served at polling places during the 2024 elections are eligible to receive a $100 bonus for each full day of service, and $50 for each half-day shift, applicable during both early voting and Election Day.
