REQUEST YOUR MAIL-IN BALLOT

For Immediate Release: Friday, October 2, 2026

The Montgomery County Board of Elections reminds voters who would like to vote by mail-in ballot that they have until Tuesday, October 27 to request a ballot sent to them by U.S. Mail or fax, or until Friday, October 30 to request a print-at-home ballot sent via the Internet.  These deadlines are listed correctly on the mail-in voting page of the Montgomery County Board of Elections website, on page 4 and page 6 of the electronic version of the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County’s Voters’ Guide, and on page 4 of the printed version; there was an incorrect deadline on page 6 of the printed LWVMC’s Voters’ Guide that they mailed to county voters.  You can request a mail-in ballot online on the Maryland State Board of Elections’ website or by texting VBM (as in “Vote by Mail”) to 77788.

You can avoid many last-minute voting issues by not waiting until the deadlines to request or vote your ballot. Almost thirteen thousand mail-in ballots already have been received as of today.  You can return your mail-in ballots at any of our 58 official mail-in ballot drop boxes across the county (we pick these up at least daily), by U.S. Mail, by handing it to the chief election judge at any voting location at Early Voting or on Election Day, or by returning it to our Gaithersburg office.  If you are returning a voted Mail-in ballot via U.S. Postal Service in the last week before Election Day, to ensure that your ballot is considered timely, please take it to the Post Office to be hand-postmarked by Election Day by a USPS clerk.

Voters who prefer to vote in-person can vote at any one of Montgomery County’s 14 Early Voting Centers from Thursday, October 22 through Thursday, October 29 or at your assigned polling place in your neighborhood precinct on Tuesday, November 3.  Text FIND to 77788 to find your local Election Day polling place. Polls will be open from 7am until 8pm throughout Early Voting and on Election Day.
