National Radon Action Month

Councilmember Craig Rice and County Executive Marc Elrich presented a proclamation recognizing January as National Radon Action Month and encouraging residents to test their homes for radon. In 2016 the Council passed a law, of which Councilmember Rice and current Council President Sidney Katz were the lead sponsors, making Montgomery County the first jurisdiction in the nation to require radon testing. Radon is an odorless, colorless, harmful gas that is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. Watch the proclamation
