County Executive Marc Elrich and County Council have proclaimed Tuesday, Dec. 1 as Rosa Parks Day in the County. The day recognizes Rosa Parks’ refusal to give up her seat to a white man on a Montgomery, Alabama bus on Thursday, December 1, 1955 and recognizes Parks as an American hero. To mark the anniversary MCDOT's Ride On has installed placards on all County-operated buses that will remain on every bus through December.
