Letter to the County Council

Pursuant to Sec. 33A-7, County Executive Marc Elrich submitted a letter to the County Council with his comments on the Planning Board draft for Thrive Montgomery, the General Plan. The County Executive proposed numerous changes to the Plan designed to speed up development approvals; encourage a wide range of housing types built through a variety of mechanisms to foster Equity throughout the County; encourage economic development; protect the Agricultural Reserve and the environment; and address climate change and adaptation. He asked the Council to direct the Planning Board to stop work on elaborate rezoning proposals that would implement Thrive Montgomery before the plan has even been reviewed by the Council. Read the full letter.
