Councilmember Andrew Friedson recognizes National Infant Mortality Awareness Month on Sept. 13, 2022. Despite the infant mortality rate in Montgomery County being lower than the national average, disparities in race remain. Due to historical and social inequalities, the rate of infant mortality for Black women is double the rate for white or Hispanic women. Speakers included Jade-Ann Rennie, public health program manager, Collaboration Council and co-chair, Fetal & Infant Mortality Review Board and Pat Keating, co-chair of the Montgomery County Community Action Team.
