Councilmember Craig Rice honored the winner of the second annual “Councilmember for a Day” challenge, Moira Johnson from Montgomery Blair High School, with a proclamation recognizing her inspiring essay and her scholastic achievements. Ms. Johnson’s essay described her experience being a caretaker to her mother, who was diagnosed with cancer when Ms. Johnson was 13 years old. She advocated for greater resources for students dealing with the illness of a parent or loved ones and students in other difficult life situations. Ms. Johnson shadowed Councilmember Rice on Tuesday, March 6 as an honorary member of the Council.
