ALS Awareness Month
Councilmember Sidney Katz gave a proclamation on behalf of the Council recognizing May as ALS Awareness Month. ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) affects approximately 30,000 Americans, including approximately 500 in Maryland and 100 in Montgomery County. Andrew Berman, Board Member of the Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia Chapter of the ALS Association, spoke about the devastating effects of ALS and the multitude of services the ALS Association provides. #ALSAwarenessMonth
