Public hearing on Expedited Bills

The Montgomery County Council will conduct public hearings and is scheduled to vote on the following Expedited Bills on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. The deadline to sign-up is July 12 at 5 p.m.:

Expedited Bill 24-21, Bond Authorization - Stormwater Management, would authorize the County to issue special limited obligation bonds for the purposes of financing the planning, design, acquisition, and construction and maintenance of stormwater management facilities and other related projects; and for refunding all or part of the outstanding special limited obligation bonds issued for such purposes.

Expedited Bill 25-21, Bond Authorization, would authorize the County to issue certain bonds; and authorize the bonds and bonds previously authorized to be issued to be consolidated for sale and issued, sold and delivered as a single issue.

Expedited Bill 27-21, Wheaton Regional Headquarters - Lease Approval, would approve the lease of the Wheaton Regional Headquarters for use by the County; and authorize the lease by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission for more than 20 years.

NOTE: During the COVID-19 state of emergency, the public is not able to be physically present in the Council Hearing Room. Residents who would like to call in to testify at a Council public hearing need to preregister on the Council's web page at https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/council/calendar.html. Once the public hearing sign up request form is submitted and the public hearing list is created, individuals will receive separate confirmation notifications that include the appropriate phone number to call for the public hearing.

Community members also have the option to provide audio, video and written testimony to the Council using a recently developed online testimony form on the Council's web page which can be found at https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/COUNCIL/PHSignUp.html. The testimony provided with the online option carries the same weight as testimony given at a public hearing. Councilmembers consider all comments as part of their deliberations.
