Montgomery County received 39 National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Awards for 2025. Since 1970, the NACo Achievement Awards have recognized exceptional county government programs and services.

Through an open application process, these awards highlight innovative and effective programs across a broad range of County responsibilities.

“Montgomery County is proud to receive 39 NACo awards," said County Executive Marc Elrich. “These recognitions demonstrate the creativity and dedication of our County departments in meeting the diverse needs of our community. From strengthening public health and safety to promoting economic opportunity and sustainability, they reflect our commitment to serving all residents. I want to thank our County employees for their hard work and innovation in making Montgomery County a welcoming and thriving place for everyone.”

The following County departments received achievement awards:

Department of Correction and Rehabilitation: "Jail-Based Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Program," "Electronic Health Records (CorEMR)," "Sweet Release Bakery Job Training Program."

Department of Environmental Protection: "Healthy, Efficient, Electrified, Climate-Adapted Pilot Homes Grants Program," "Gude Landfill Remediation Project."

Department of Health and Human Services: "Charlemos Con Zumba (Let’s Chat and Zumba)," "The Rising Together: Inclusive Pathways to Child Care Employment for Refugee Women," "DHHS Mobile Health Clinic," "Babies Born Healthy 'Right From The Start'."

Department of Housing and Community Affairs: "Office of Landlord-Tenant Affairs Community Volunteer Program."

Department of Permitting Services: "Recipe for Success."

Office of Food Systems Resilience: "MC Groceries: Retail Food Access Program."

Office of Procurement: "Veteran-owned Business Preference Program."

Police Department: "Construction of the new NetZero Sixth District Police Station."

Recreation Department: "Rock-reaktion: Indoor Rock-Climbing Program," "Montgomery County Recreation Skateboarding," "Youth Cricket Academy," "Hands Only CPR Campaign," "Under the Lights," "Cardboard Boat Regatta," "Fire Safety: One Cup of Cocoa at a Time," "Aquatic Egg Hunt."

Department of Technology and Enterprise Business Solutions: "Montgomery County GIS Strategic Alignment and Activity Tracking Application," "Montgomery County Student Project Partnership."

Department of Transportation: "MCDOT Sweep the Salt Pilot Program," "MCDOT Waze School Flasher Integration," "Ride On Trip Planner App," "ePaper Transit Real Time Bus Stop Information Signs Project," "Montgomery County GIS-Enabled DOT Field Photo Management Application," "MCDOT Flash Friday Campaign," "Great Seneca Transit Network."
