For Immediate Release: Friday, October 5, 2018
MCDOT has begun a project to replace the Gold Mine Road Bridge, which is located near Chandlee Mill Road. The project requires closure of Gold Mine Road past Chandlee Mill Road. Residents can access Gold Mine Road from Chandlee Mill Road to Brook Road.
The detour plan route will direct traffic from Gold Mine Road to Route 97 South (Georgia Ave), to Route 108 East (Sandy Spring Road), continuing to Route 650 North (New Hampshire Avenue). From Route 650 to Gold Mine Road, the same detour route will apply in reverse.
The bridge will remain closed through the Summer of 2019, and it is scheduled to reopen on or before the first day of the new 2019-2020 school year. The remaining portion of Gold Mine Road will be closed on the last day of the 2018-2019 school year. At that time, access to Chandlee Mill Road will be altered and traffic will follow a different detour plan.
