For Immediate Release: Thursday, September 23, 2021
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation will be closing Clarksburg Road to all traffic between Barnes Road and Prices Distillery Road due to accelerating deterioration of a culvert spanning a branch of Bennett Creek. The road will close before the evening rush hour tomorrow, Sept. 24 and will remain closed for an extended period while permanent repairs are made.
The culvert was already under construction and the road was planned for closure on Oct. 11 to make permanent repairs. However, as a result of heavy rains Wednesday night into Thursday morning the road will be closed early.
Access to properties along this segment of Clarksburg Road will remain open during this period, but through travel between Prices Distillery Road and Barnes Road will not be possible. Residents and travelers are advised to follow marked detour signs. Additional updates will be provided when the duration of the closure is better known.
