For Immediate Release: Friday, February 11, 2022
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold a virtual public hearing, on Tuesday, Feb. 22 beginning at 1 p.m. on the proposed abandonment of a portion of the public right of way on Kensington Boulevard from East Avenue towards Veirs Mill Road in Wheaton. This hearing was postponed from Nov. 10. The public will have an opportunity to provide written or oral testimony.
The applicant, managing member of Banc Realty, LLC, Dr. Bahram Nasehi, is seeking the abandonment of the public right of way to support the redevelopment of the surrounding area and prevent cut-through traffic from Veirs Mill Road through the 11300 Veirs Mill Road property parking lot. The right of way is approximately 70-feet wide, and 100-feet long from East Avenue to the petitioner’s property parking lot where the right of way dead ends.
The public has until 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 18 to register to attend online. Completion of this registration form will include an electronic invitation to participate in this hearing. Those who previously registered to attend the Nov. 10 hearing are not required to re-register.
