With freezing rain expected overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning, Montgomery County officials are encouraging residents to prepare for slippery roads and bridges. The Montgomery County Department of Transportation Storm Operations Center (SOC) will activate at 11 p.m. Wednesday to monitor weather and treatment operations.
Storm crews will be monitoring pavement conditions and responding as necessary. A Winter Weather Advisory will go into effect for Montgomery County at 10 p.m. tonight. It is expected that freezing rain will begin in the area shortly after midnight, leaving ice accumulations of a glaze to a tenth of an inch before the precipitation transitions to plain rain around midday on Thursday. Hazardous conditions will likely impact the Thursday morning commute.
Icing could produce downed wires and power outages. Sign up for Alert Montgomery, the County's emergency warning system that sends alerts to cell phones, emails or via text messages.

Report downed trees on the public right-of-way by contacting the County's Call Center by calling 311 or online. If downed wires are sparking, call 911.
