For Immediate Release: Tuesday, May 6, 2025
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold a public open house to discuss the New Hampshire Avenue Flash Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Planning Study. The in-person public open house will focus on the New Hampshire Avenue BRT corridor, which is planned to run from Fort Totten Metro Station to Colesville. MCDOT is seeking public input that may influence the outcome of the project.
About New Hampshire Avenue Flash BRT:
The New Hampshire Avenue Flash BRT will be an upgraded, high-frequency transit service that delivers faster, more reliable service between Fort Totten Metro Station and Colesville, potentially using dedicated bus lanes and bus priority at traffic signals. The corridor connects key destinations such as the City of Takoma Park, the Takoma Langley Transit Center, Langley Park, Hillandale, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Campus, White Oak, and Colesville, helping more people reach jobs, schools, healthcare and other essential services. New Hampshire Avenue Flash BRT will also provide connections to other transit services such as Metro Rail, Purple Line, US 29 Flash and other local bus routes.
Open House Details:
The open house will allow attendees to engage directly with project team members, view project materials, maps, and ask questions.
