Press Releases - Department of Transportation

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, June 11, 2025

The Montgomery County Maryland Department of Transportation (MCDOT) recently unveiled a “Ride with Pride” themed Ride On bus that will operate during June, which is recognized as Pride Month. This is the third year the County has wrapped a bus for Pride month.

The newly designed bus has the tagline “Radiating Love” with bright colors radiating from a central point. Dedicated to uplifting LGBTQ+ voices, culture and civil rights, the bus is also adorned with Ride with Pride messaging and neon lights to stand out at night.

In addition to the Pride Bus, all MCDOT buses will have #RidewithPride poster displays on board in June, with a QR code that will link to the MCDOT Ride with Pride webpage with information about the historical and cultural significance of Pride month.

“This bus is a visible reminder that Montgomery County stands with our LGBTQ+ residents,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “We believe government should help create a community where everyone feels safe, welcomed and valued. The ‘Ride with Pride’ bus sends that message to anyone who sees it or rides it. We still have work to do to achieve full equality, but this is one way we show that we're not backing down.”

The Pride Bus will be deployed on bus routes throughout the County and riders are encouraged to share photos of the bus on social media @MCDOTNow.

"We are excited to introduce this bus as a representation of our commitment to supporting our diverse community," said MCDOT director Chris Conklin. "Public transportation has always played a vital role in creating a safe and welcoming society and uplifting groups that have historically been marginalized. The Ride with Pride bus is a way to let them know they are seen and supported.”
