Due to construction at Edison Park Drive and Main Street in Gaithersburg, Montgomery County Department of Transportation’s (MCDOT) Ride On Route 56 is currently experiencing a detour through late September. Details of the detour can be found below.
BUS ROUTE 56 TO LAKEFOREST:
From Darnestown Road, turn right on Edison Park Drive, stay left on the Edison Park Drive loop to Main Street rather than turning right on to Parking Lot Drive, veer left to Main Street, right on Darnestown Road and back on the route. Bus stop 17262 (Edison Park Drive & Parking Lot Drive) will be bypassed. Use stops before and after the detour.
BUS ROUTE 56 TO ROCKVILLE:
From Darnestown Road, turn left on Main Street, right on to Edison Park Drive, keep right on the Edison Park Drive loop rather than diverting to the parking lot, left onto Darnestown Road, and back on the route. Bus stops 21638 (Darnestown Road & Owens Glen Way), 21640 (Darnestown Road & Edison Park Drive), and 17262 (Edison Park Drive & Parking Lot Drive) will be bypassed. Use stops before and after the detour.
The County implemented a zero-fare policy, that went into effect on Sunday, June 29, for all Ride On, Ride On extRa, Ride On Flex and Flash buses.
