The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold an onsite community meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., to discuss proposed pedestrian safety improvements within the one-mile walkshed of Kensington Parkwood Elementary School. At the outdoor meeting, residents will tour and review each of the planned enhancement areas.
The meeting will begin at the intersection of Clearbrook Lane and Cedar Lane.
As part of a countywide initiative to identify safe and accessible routes for students walking and bicycling to school, MCDOT completed a walkability study for Kensington Parkwood Elementary School in 2019. The study evaluated existing infrastructure conditions and recommended improvements to enhance pedestrian and bicycle safety and accessibility. In October 2024, MCDOT presented the study’s recommendations to the community. Based on community feedback, the proposed plans have been revised.
At this onsite meeting, MCDOT staff will meet with homeowners and community members to review the updated plans and discuss the following proposed sidewalk and pedestrian safety enhancements:
