The Purple Line BiPPA Sidewalk Proposals for the Long Branch and Manchester Place Stations project proposes the installation of 5-foot-wide concrete sidewalks on roadways within a half-mile radius of each new Purple Line station. In addition to new sidewalks, MCDOT will also add crosswalks, curb ramps, and other pedestrian amenities to make it safer and easier for residents to navigate the area around the new Purple Line stations.
As supported by the County’s Climate Action Plan, the sidewalk connectivity enhancements by MCDOT near the new Purple Line stations are a positive step towards creating a more pedestrian-friendly environment in Montgomery County. These improvements not only improve access to public transportation but also promote walkability and sustainability in the community.
Proposed are the following segments:
Long Branch Station:
Manchester Place Station:
At the public meeting, MCDOT will present the project design, details, costs, and schedules. MCDOT will also obtain public feedback and answer questions. Public input is encouraged and may influence the project's design.
The public is encouraged to visit the Long Branch and Manchester Place project websites and provide feedback via the online comment form or by email to Project Manager Lori Main at [email protected] by Thursday, May 14. Written comments carry the same weight as oral comments. All information provided will become a matter of public record.
