Officials in front of new Glenmont garage

Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett (far left) celebrated the opening of the new Glenmont Metro Station parking garage. Leggett was joined by (from left to right) MCDOT Director Art Holmes, U.S. Congressman Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Metro Board Member Kathy Porter, and County Councilmember Nancy Floreen.

County Executive Isiah Leggett joined federal, state and local officials to open the new Glenmont Metro Station parking garage.  This second garage, located on the west side of Georgia Avenue, will nearly double the parking for riders, bringing the total to 3,000 spaces.

The garage was built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards, helping the County attain its sustainability goals.  The garage features customer assistance phones, extra lighting, digital security cameras, and a police room to enhance security.  A canopy connects the garage entrance to the Metrorail entrance.

Parking at the garage costs $4.75. You can pay with a ‘SmarTrip’ card or a credit card.

Metro managed the $24.7 million design/build project for the County, contracting with the Forrester Construction Company, a local Rockville firm.  With an average of almost 6,000 weekday boardings, Glenmont has the fourth highest ridership of any station in the County.
