Press Releases - Public Library

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, October 1, 2019

Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) will participate in the fifth Maryland STEM Festival taking place Oct. 11 through Nov. 10.  The Festival is a statewide celebration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

MCPL’s 21 branches will offer more than 25 free, exciting STEM programs for kids and adults throughout the month-long Festival.

A sampling of activities will include:

  • Robotics Demonstration
  • Fun with Fluorescence
  • Aviation Science
  • Science and Stories: Playing with Polymers
  • STEM Storytime
  • Coding

“We are delighted to be part again of the Maryland STEM Festival and bring fun, interactive science learning opportunities to the community,” said MCPL Director Anita Vassallo. “Research shows that early STEM education is an important part of a child’s education that enhances later knowledge, narrows the achievement gap, and provides support for future success in life and school. MCPL has a long history of assisting parents and caregivers in supporting their children to achieve these goals and providing STEM programs in our branches is part of this mission.”
