Press Releases - Public Library

For Immediate Release: Monday, January 12, 2009

A free program on the “Rebirth of Rwanda: Progress Since the Genocide” will be held at the Silver Spring Library, 8901 Colesville Rd., on February 2, at 7:30 p.m.

Maxine Levin, a program director with the US Department of Agriculture, will present the talk and slide show. Levin recently spent 10 weeks in Rwanda assisting in President Kagame's plans for viable economic development and good government.

She also attended the International Coffee Competition, saw the mountain gorillas and colobus monkeys, and participated in official receptions attended by the President. There will be a display of mud paintings and other crafts collected during the trip, and she will bring Rwandan coffee to be served with light refreshments.

The program is sponsored by Friends of the Library, Silver Spring Chapter and the Silver Spring Library Advisory Committee.

To request ADA program accommodations, at least five work days in advance, or to receive more information, call the Silver Spring Library at 240-773-9420.
