Press Releases

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, June 11, 2002

The public is invited to attend a meeting on the Hawlings River Watershed restoration study on Thursday, June 27 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The meeting will address proposals to improve stream habitat and water quality, and reduce sediments and pollutants - and residents will have an opportunity to provide input.

The meeting will be held at the Rosa Parks Middle School Media Center, 19200 Olney Mill Road in Olney. Maps and project concepts will be available for review beginning at 7 p.m.

The Hawlings River watershed, a tributary to the Rocky Gorge Reservoir, extends from Etchison to Sandy Spring and west to Olney. The recently completed watershed study assessed stream conditions, and identified areas that would benefit from stormwater management improvements and stream restoration efforts.
