Council President Craig Rice to Meet With Media on Monday, March 17 Among Topics He Will Discuss Are County Executive’s Recommended Fiscal Year 2015 Operating Budget, Proposed Healthy Food Program for MCPS, Libraries CIP

Montgomery County Council President Craig Rice will meet with members of the media on Monday, March 17, to discuss key items that will be facing the County Council and its respective committees in the near future. Among the issues he will talk about is County Executive Isiah Leggett’s recommended Fiscal Year 2015 budget, which will be presented to the Council earlier on Monday. The County Executive will formally present the recommended budget to the public at 12 noon on Monday.

Council President Rice’s meeting with media members will begin at 11 a.m. in the SIXTH FLOOR Conference Room of the Council Office Building at 100 Maryland Ave. in Rockville.

Council President Rice also will address the proposed healthy food options program for Montgomery County Public Schools students, which he and Council Vice President George Leventhal are encouraging the Board of Education to adopt. He also will talk about the Capital Improvements Program for County libraries, which will be the subject of a Council worksession on Tuesday, March 18. Council President Rice is the Council’s lead member for libraries as part of his responsibilities on the Health and Human Services Committee.

Council President Rice intends to hold regular briefings to help explain and expand on upcoming issues facing the Council and the County in general.
