Montgomery County Council President Craig Rice to Hold Community Meeting for Montgomery Village on Monday, Sept. 22

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, September 9, 2014

Montgomery County Council President Craig Rice, who represents District 2 that includes much of the Upcounty area and Montgomery Village, will meet with residents starting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, at the Gaithersburg Library. Among the issues he will provide updates on are the future redevelopment on the Montgomery Village golf course site, schools, the possible northward extension of Mid-County Highway (the M83 project), the cleanup of Lake Whetstone and the increased attention to crime prevention.

The Gaithersburg Library is located at 18330 Montgomery Village Avenue.

Council President Rice also will discuss traffic, planned transportation improvements and the long-term future of Lakeforest Mall.

“It is hard to believe that Montgomery Village is almost 50 years old and over five decades, a lot has changed,” said Council President Rice. “Montgomery Village is no longer an ‘outer suburb’ as it was five decades ago. But with this evolution comes new ideas and the need to examine through the upcoming master plan process the vision for this community. I encourage people to come to this meeting with their thoughts and views on what they would like to see happen in Montgomery Village."
