For Immediate Release: Tuesday, March 10, 2015

Montgomery County Council Education Committee Chair Craig Rice, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Acting Chief Operating Officer Andrew Zuckerman and Montgomery College President DeRionne Pollard at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, will host the third of five public forums they are holding to provide information, and seek input, on the programs and budgets of the County’s public school system and its community college. The third forum will be held at Gaithersburg High School.

Gaithersburg High School is located at 101 Education Blvd. in Gaithersburg. The forum is scheduled for 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The series of Education Budget Meetings will continue at Kingsview Middle School in Germantown on March 16 and at Churchill High School in Potomac on March 23. The first two forums were held on March 2 at the Silver Spring Civic Building and on March 9 at Sherwood High School.

“These forums provide an opportunity for residents to have their questions answered about the education budgets at both the State and County level from kindergarten through the early years of college,” said Councilmember Rice. “We are talking about how budget decisions are made, and are working to explain the circumstances concerning the new budget we are addressing for the fiscal year that begins on July 1. We also are discussing the opportunities residents will have to influence budget decisions. And in this early stage of the budget process, we want to hear from residents about their concerns, their priorities and how they fit with the amount of funding available.”
