Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett has proclaimed the week of May 15 as Transportation Week, joining communities across the country in recognizing the importance of transportation infrastructure to the economy, safety and well being of communities.
The full proclamation is shown below:
Whereas Montgomery County’s transportation infrastructure ensures that people can safely travel to their jobs, homes, businesses, recreational opportunities and other destinations; and
Whereas expanded transportation options are the foundation of our economy -- boosting our economic prosperity and attracting greater employment opportunities; and
Whereas the Montgomery County Department of Transportation’s (MCDOT) more than 1,300 dedicated employees who plan, build, operate and maintain our transportation system have earned the gratitude of our residents for their perseverance and accomplishments – especially during this year’s severe winter; and
Whereas our employees play an essential part in transitioning MCDOT’s focus to one that is even more multi-modal, innovative, resilient and technology-oriented to ensure that we have a world-class 21st century transportation system;
Therefore do I, Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett, hereby declare May 15 to 21, 2016 as Transportation Week in Montgomery County, joining the national celebration that recognizes the importance of our County’s transportation infrastructure and acknowledges the contributions of MCDOT’s men and women whose hard work and dedication are helping us achieve a brighter future.
