Silver Spring Thursday Night Concerts June 16 – August 4 at Veterans Plaza

For Immediate Release: Thursday, June 2, 2016

Silver Spring’s Thursday Night Concerts features touring artists and local favorites for their Summer 2016 line-up.  From Motown to Rock to Oldies, the popular summer concert series has music for everyone.

On a national tour from Louisiana, Jeffery Broussard and the Creole Cowboys will perform on July 7. One of the most influential accordionists and vocalists in modern Zydeco music, Jeffery Broussard continues to be one of the genre’s most dynamic performers. He has continually been an innovator, beginning his career with traditional Creole Zydeco music playing drums in his father’s band, Delton Broussard & The Lawtell Playboys.  Next he moved on to develop the nouveau Zydeco sound in Zydeco Force.  Now he has returned to the more traditional Zydeco sound with his own band, Jeffery Broussard and The Creole Cowboys.

The rest of the summer line-up includes:

June 16—Anthony “Swamp Dog” Clark and the Blues Allstars (blues)

June 23—Rock & Roll Relics (oldies)

June 30—The Lloyd Dobbler Effect (80s/90s covers)

July 7—Jeffery Broussard and the Creole Cowboys (zydeco)

July 14—The Moxie Blues Band (blues)

July 21—MoCo’s Got Talent Winners (variety)

July 28—Appaloosa (classic rock)

August 4—Ocho de Bastos (Latin rock)

The concert features games for kids and a raffle that includes prizes for adults and toys for kids.  The raffle is awarded at intermission.

Silver Spring Concert performances are free and take place on Thursdays from 7-9 p.m.  The outdoor performances are presented at the Silver Spring Civic Building on Veterans Plaza, One Veterans Place.  Performances are canceled due to weather only if it is raining at 7 p.m.  The programs are sponsored by Discovery Communications, Live Nation, Montgomery County, the Silver Spring Urban District, Montgomery County Recreation, and the Celebrate Downtown Silver Spring Foundation.
