MCDOT's Transit Services Division has won a Best in Category Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties for its Wiki Bus Stop Database. Staff have improved nearly 3,000 bus stops so far to enhance safety and provide ADA accessibility.

To address the challenge of managing work at more than 5,000 bus stops with a very small staff, Transit created an open source, inventory and database system that is cloud-based to make it accessible from anywhere. The system includes work orders, expenses, photographs and information that can be viewed and uploaded while out in the field. The result is that accurate information on every bus stop is available in real-time, enhancing worker productivity.
