Montgomery County Receives 34 NACo Achievement Awards

Montgomery County has received 34 National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Awards this year for outstanding programs, including one for “Best of Category” from the County’s Department of Transportation (DoT) for the creation of DoT’s Wiki Database for Bus Stop Inventory / Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance.

“I'm proud that the hardworking employees of our County Government continue to be recognized for their demonstrated leadership in the pursuit of transformational, cost-effective solutions in the improvement of the programs and services we offer to our residents and businesses,” said County Executive Ike Leggett. “That we are recognized by our peers in NACo makes the honor that much greater.”

The following departments and programs received awards:

  • Environmental Protection – Pet Waste Management; Caching the Rain Geotrail;
  • Finance – Controller’s Division Vision Committee;
  • General Services – Montgomery County Printer Administration Program; Montgomery County On-Line Print Shop; Montgomery County Solar and Advanced Energy Initiative; Project Budget Program;
  • Health and Human Services – Disaster Shelter/Response Teams Program; Earned Income Tax Credit Outreach Campaign; Be the One that Makes a Difference; Empowering Community Health Organizations; Village Coordination;
  • Housing and Community Affairs – Code Enforcement Case Management System; Moderately Priced Dwelling Unit Management System;
  • Human Resources – LiveWell Employee Wellness Program;
  • Libraries – Interact, Explore, Discover @ Your Own Pace: STEM Stations for Young Children @ Montgomery County Public Libraries; Learn, Engage & Create Together: Programs and Services for Active Seniors@ Montgomery County Public Libraries; Library Refresh Program - Supporting Community Needs @ Montgomery County
  • Liquor Control – Drunk Driving Prevention Program; Mystery Shop Incentive Program;
