Montgomery County Announces Date for Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Ross Boddy Neighborhood Recreation Center

Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett will participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly renovated Ross Boddy Neighborhood Recreation Center on Saturday, October 29 at 10 a.m. The facility is located at 18529 Brooke Rd, Sandy Spring.

The 15,900 square foot facility was originally built as an elementary school in the 1960s and converted to a recreation center in 1982 with no comprehensive renovations until now.

 

The renovated LEED Silver certified facility is 27,400 square feet and includes a new gymnasium, regulation basketball court, kiln room, demonstration kitchen and a renovated social hall.  The renovated building also meets the latest accessibility (ADA) requirements. 

 

Outside, the 8.37 acres site has new soccer and softball fields, multipurpose courts, playground and updated site lighting.

 

The celebration will include a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by facility tours and community activities.
