State-of-the-art facility was dedicated on Oct. 22

ROCKVILLE, Md., October 24, 2016—Hundreds of people from Montgomery County’s North Potomac community packed the new Nancy H. Dacek North Potomac Community Center on Oct. 22 for the dedication of the state-of-the-art facility. A video summing up the ceremonies was produced by County Cable Montgomery (CCM), the County’s cable television station.

The video includes interviews with Montgomery County Council President Nancy Floreen, Councilmember Craig Rice and County Executive Ike Leggett. County Councilmember Sidney Katz also attended the ceremonies.

Mrs. Dacek, who passed away in 2015 at age 81, served 12 years on the County Council. She was a strong advocate for building the community center, which took almost two decades to complete after it was first proposed. The video includes comments from her husband, Raymond, and her daughter, Kim.

The 48,000 square-foot facility, located at 13850 Travillah Road in North Potomac, features a full-sized gymnasium, auxiliary gym, rock climbing wall, exercise and weight room, spacious social hall, commercial kitchen, multi-use community room, arts/kiln room, game room, meeting rooms, offices and organic turf field. The center also will be home to the North Potomac Senior Center.

The video, which runs for 3 minutes, 37 seconds, was created by producer/reporter Susan Kenedy. Dario Lanzano was the videographer. Mike Springirth was the editor.
