During County Executive Ike Leggett's Virtual Town Hall Meeting on December 20, he addressed a question about traffic impacts resulting from dense development by discussing his strategy to make improvements to the County's transit system, including development of a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system.
Mr. Leggett said, "Part of our strategy must include improvements to our transit system. That is why I proposed to move forward with a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system on one of our most congested corridors, Route 29. We are in the planning stages for additional locations and routes in the most heavily congested areas in Montgomery County. We cannot build our way out of traffic congestion - we must find ways to move people out of their cars. BRT will be a key solution for helping to ease traffic in the future."
