Statement of Montgomery County Department of Transportation Director Al Roshdieh Concerning Today’s Planning Board Site Plan Approval for the Marriott Project

For Immediate Release: Thursday, December 14, 2017

Today I am pleased to announce that Boston Properties and Bernstein Companies, which are the developers for the Marriott International Headquarters and Hotel in downtown Bethesda, received their site plan approval from the Montgomery County Planning Board. This project is very important to Montgomery County, and the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) has placed the highest priority on making sure that this project moves forward while at the same time protecting the public’s safety and interests.

Over the past few months, MCDOT has worked diligently with the project development team to ensure Marriott’s needs for access to their headquarters are effectively met and the project remains on schedule. I’m proud of my team and the results they achieved through their cooperative spirit. We are excited about the future that includes this Marriott project and the tremendous benefits it will bring to Bethesda and the County.
