Metro to Shut Down Red LIne This Weekend Between Silver Spring and Rhode Island Avenue for Emergency Repairs

Red Line: Silver Spring – Rhode Island Ave shutdown

7:00 a.m. Saturday, December 16 until closing Sunday, December 17

 

• Free shuttle buses will operate between Rhode Island Ave and Silver Spring making intermediate stops at Brookland-CUA, Fort Totten and Takoma. Please add 15 minutes of travel time for each station stop.
• Red Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals (every 12-15 minutes) between Shady Grove and Rhode Island Ave, and between Silver Spring and Glenmont. Additional trains will operate between Shady Grove and NoMa-Gallaudet U during daytime hours.
• On Saturday and Sunday night, the last Red Line train from Glenmont to Silver Spring and from Silver Spring to Glenmont will depart 48 minutes earlier than normal.

There will also be single tracking on the Orange, Blue and Green Lines this weekend, and the Silver Line will operate between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston only.
